I ran spywaredoctor it found 700+ infections on my moms comp. It was cleaning them up and right at the end I saw my mouse cursor disappear. I'm running windows 98. I turned the computer off. When it rebboted it, a message window on the desktop before all the icons appeared said that it did not find my mouse. turn off the computer, plug in the mouse and restart. I did, same message desktop icons never appear. Guess something was attached to the mouse (virus). Saw on a site that the drivers might be gone??? How do I navigate to fix anything. Were do I get drivers, If that is the problem. Help

my mother is retired she uses email all day. I come over tell her is time to clean the computer. She tells me no, I'll mess something up. I say dont worry. The mouse disappears as I'm proudly showing her all the infections that are getting cleaned. For an older lady she still smacks the back of my head hard, I saw stars, I kid you not. :hitting: She threw me out and told me not to come back until I can fix her computer.

What kind of mouse was it? Find out what kind, then goto the site (microsoft etc) look for mouse drivers, then install the driver, should be set after that...

Here's a site for drivers http://www.input-drivers.com/

PS, it's better to be hit in the head then in the balls...

Falco - Do you have a Windows 98 Installation CD?

In addition, no question is stupid if you don't know the answer. Nobody is perfect.

I haven't seen Win98 in years, but am I correct that it doesn't have any plug & play device detection? I want to say that it does NOT.....which means that this may be a tough one.

Tough spot for sure.....
